Your mission
Connecting our hardware to the cloud to monitor process performance and enable an exponential data-driven learning curve.
We’re seeking a skilled Senior Simulation Engineer to join our Berlin-based startup, focusing on process simulation, kinetics, and mass transfer in our electrochemical process. Collaborating closely with the engineering and development team, this involves reading P&IDs, calculating thermodynamic processes for our TEA, and exploring methods to improve process models, focusing on gas-liquid interface reactions and electrochemical separation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculating thermodynamic processes, energy requirements, and mass & flow balances which feed directly into our TEA with Aspen/HYSYS.
- Comparing different methods for individual process steps, conducting equipment sizing and/or numerical simulations to obtain maximum flow velocities.
- Considering thermodynamics and kinetics to improve process models and digital twin of our industrial unit with COMSOL or Python.
- Focusing on gas-liquid interface reactions and electrochemical separation processes.
- Creating P&IDs with AutoCAD and aligning equipment choices with hardware engineering, IoT, and Chemical Process team.
Your Profile
Skills and Experience:
- University degree in Process Engineering, CFD Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience (>5 years) in simulation of chemical processes and equipment improvement.
- Experience in design, construction, and/or operation of lab prototypes and pilot plants for R&D or industrial plants in related sectors to gas processing and liquefaction plants, air separation units, Direct Air Capture, etc.
- Experience with tools for process simulation, such as COMSOL, AutoCAD, Aspen HYSYS, or Ansys.
- Ideally worked in water treatment, battery design/production, or industries with gas-liquid interfaces combined with startup experience.
Workstyle and Culture
- Fast learning and quick to grasp complex topics.
- A team player with a hands-on mentality.
- Authentic and reflective self.
- Self-organizer and structured workstyle to keep focus and get things done.
- Good listener and effective communicator in cross-sectional teams.
- Curious and open-minded.
Other Requirements
- Valid work permit for Germany, or able to obtain a permit.
- Location: Exciting industrial co-working space in Mazahn where we have our own industrial halls to build.
Benefits
Perks:
- Employee stock options.
- Flexible working hours.
- Hybrid working.
- Regular team events.
- Subsidized BVG ticket.
- Laptop and your individual work setup.
