Position Overview
The Department of History at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position in the history of Early Modern China (Ming to Qing Dynasties). Starting Date: July 1, 2024. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Qualifications
- A PhD in History or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment.
- Bilingual (Chinese-English) expertise, a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, and a strong commitment to research and publication in the field is also required.
- Extensive experience with Chinese archives is a preferred qualification.
- A commitment to providing routes to educational success for underrepresented and first-generation college students is a preferred qualification.
Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to teach core courses in Chinese history, as well as courses in global/transnational history and thematic courses based on the candidate's research profile. Strong commitments to the mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students and the advancement of Asian studies programs on campus are highly desirable.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is $74,600 - $97,200. Off-scale salaries and other components of pay may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
