Overview

In this role you will assess power generation equipment and assemblies for UL 2200/6200 certification and manage certification projects. You will work with cross-functional teams to determine scope, plan investigations, and coordinate testing, reviews, and communication with clients. You’ll translate regulatory requirements into clear project plans and drive timely, compliant outcomes for complex power systems. This position offers impact by shaping safety standards for generators, controllers, and hydrogen-related technologies.

Verantwortungsbereiche

  • Define project scope and investigation plan based on client input and product data
  • Determine specifications, cost, time, and sample needs; travel may be required for on-site tests
  • Communicate technical requirements and project status to clients; negotiate timelines and samples
  • Provide technical assistance in product inspection and follow-up services
  • Establish test programs by reviewing files, examining samples, and applying UL requirements
  • Coordinate laboratory activities and oversee technicians to meet deadlines
  • Manage administrative aspects of project management and serve as record reviewer
  • Prepare status reports and follow-up service documentation
  • Integrate continuous improvement into processes and address variation notices
  • Develop and update test methods or equipment; conduct file reviews as needed
  • Represent UL at industry events and may mentor staff or direct engineers
  • Read and follow UL Code of Conduct and security practices
  • Perform other duties as directed

Zentrale Anforderungen

  • Bachelor-level engineering degree and at least four years of relevant experience
  • Experience with power generation systems, gensets, gas turbines, electrical generators, or related control systems
  • Detailed knowledge of technical vocabulary in power generation, rotating machines, protection systems, and safety-related controls
  • Familiarity with conformity standards (UL 2200/UL 6200; UL 1004; UL 508A; NFPA 70/37/110) and certification processes
  • Ability to independently evaluate complex products, conduct compliance assessments, and determine certification needs
  • Proven project management skills including planning, execution, testing coordination, and customer communication
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain regulatory requirements to stakeholders
