Overview

Ulm University is a young research university with a focus on natural sciences, medicine and technology. The Medical Faculty of Ulm University is seeking to fill the position, starting as soon as possible, of a Professor (W3) for Physiological Chemistry (m/f/d).

Responsibilities

The professorship includes the directorship of the Institute of Physiological Chemistry (successor to Prof. Dr. T. Wirth). Responsibilities include management duties and predominantly German-language instruction in biochemistry and molecular biology in the degree programs in Human Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, and Molecular and Translational Neuroscience. Candidates are expected to actively contribute to the development of innovative teaching and examination concepts, including digital teaching, e.g., within the framework of the training hospital ToTrainU (TTU).

  • Ensure an internationally recognized track record in research and teaching in the field of physiological chemistry, biochemistry or molecular biology.
  • Maintain an outstanding record of international publications and the ability to secure external funding.
  • Experience in establishing or participating in research networks; leadership experience desirable.
  • Research focus of the Institute on cellular signaling pathways in development and differentiation; address disruption of these pathways in disease onset and progression; align future research with faculty priorities (aging, neuroscience, oncology, trauma).
  • Integrate into faculty and supraregional research structures such as NCT-SüdWest, the Collaborative Research Center “Aging at Interfaces” (SFB 1506), and Multidimensional Trauma Sciences (MTW).

Qualifications

Employment requirements are completed university studies in life sciences as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (
47 LHG).

Additional Information

The professorship entails taking over the predominantly German-language instruction in biochemistry and molecular biology in the degree programs in Human Medicine, Dentistry, Molecular Medicine, and Molecular and Translational Neuroscience. The future holder is expected to contribute to the development of teaching and examination concepts, including digital teaching. In addition to the standard application documents, a teaching concept in German is requested.
