Umbilical Search is supporting a manufacturing business that supplies products across a range of industrial and technology-driven markets. Due to continued investment and growth, we are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant / Financial Analyst to act as the key finance partner for a major manufacturing facility.
This is a highly visible role combining plant controlling, cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, and operational business partnering.
Working closely with plant leadership, operations, supply chain and senior management teams, you will play a critical role in driving financial performance, improving operational efficiency and ensuring strong financial governance across the site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for the manufacturing site
- Own plant P&L reporting, analysing financial performance and providing insight into key business drivers and operational results
- Manage standard costing processes, manufacturing cost accounting and detailed variance analysis across production operations
- Monitor inventory performance including valuation, cycle counts, excess and obsolete stock, inventory provisions and accuracy controls
- Support annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and financial planning activities, providing robust analysis and recommendations
- Partner with cross-functional operational teams to improve plant performance, productivity and profitability
- Analyse manufacturing yields, labour efficiency, material usage and operational KPIs to identify improvement opportunities
- Evaluate capital expenditure proposals through financial modelling, investment appraisal and return on investment analysis
- Ensure compliance with financial controls, corporate policies, statutory requirements and audit standards, acting as the key finance contact for audits
- Drive continuous improvement, cost reduction and working capital initiatives through data-driven financial analysis and business partnering with plant leadership teams
Requirements:
- Experience as a Cost Accountant, Financial Analyst, Manufacturing FP&A, Site Finance Lead, or similar finance professional within a manufacturing environment
- Degree qualified in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment is essential
- Strong background in plant controlling, cost accounting, manufacturing finance or FP&A
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert financial data into actionable business insights
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP or similar enterprise platforms
- Confident business partner capable of influencing operational and leadership teams
- Fluent English and German (C1) required
