The Office of Campus Activities and Programs (CAP) is a department within the Division of Student Affairs at UNC Greensboro. The mission of CAP is to provide opportunities for students to create meaningful relationships, explore interests, and develop a sense of self and an appreciation for their community. We support transformative learning through involvement, encouraging participation and engagement in student groups, planning and executing campus events, and fostering leadership in the community.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Campus Activities and Programs, the Associate Director for Student Groups & Programming serves the Office of Campus Activities and Programs. This position is responsible for the oversight of student group recognition and development, campus-wide programming initiatives, and direct advising of the Student Government Association (SGA). This position directly supervises two full-time, master's level program coordinators and indirectly supervises two master's level graduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field.
  • At least three years of full-time experience in campus activities and programs through student group development, student governance, campus-wide programming initiatives, or related areas of student engagement in a college or university setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience advising student government associations, student programming boards, and student groups at the college or university level.
  • Experience supervising full-time professional staff members, graduate assistants, and student staff.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing programs and strategies to engage students on campus.
  • Experience and comfort in working in a multicultural environment and a commitment to the value of student activities as an experiential learning process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Government Association (30%): Advise the UNCG Student Government Association comprised of approximately 50 student leaders in leadership and team development, student activity fee allocations, budget management, the election process, policy development and interpretation, and other responsibilities based on student needs.
  • Supervision (25%): Supervise one full-time, Master's level Program Coordinator and one programming Graduate Assistant responsible for advising the Activities and Campus Events (ACE) student programming board, supporting student group development, recognition, and registration, and implementing campus-wide traditional programs.
  • Student Group Development (15%): Oversee student group recognition and registration and review new group constitutions and application packets for compliance with university policy, state law, and federal case law regarding student organization formation. Advise a selection of UNCG student groups on campus event planning.
  • Programming (15%): Responsible for the implementation of the annual Spartan Family Weekend (SFW) program including co-chairing the SFW working group and coordinating all event logistics.
  • Assessment (10%): Designs, administers, and responds to research surveys and evaluations to analyze campus constituents' needs, interests, and desired learning outcomes.
  • Professional Development (5%): Serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees as needed and as requested; maintain thorough knowledge of State and University policies as they relate to student activities.
