ITS Systems Administrator

Position Summary

This position identifies and implements voice technology solutions with the goal of improving operation performance/efficiency. This position provides planning, development, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the enterprise-wide Microsoft Teams Voice installation. The incumbent must be familiar with telecommunication technologies and have experience in Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and PowerShell. They must be able to deploy and configure Microsoft Teams Phone with PSTN connectivity through Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Session Border Controller.

Minimum Qualifications

• Related Master's Degree and 1-2 years experience; or a related bachelor's degree and 2-4 years experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in the following areas is necessary:

• 5 years of systems administration;
• 3 years of Exchange Online administration;
• 3 years of Teams Voice administration;
• Experience with voice endpoint management;
• Well-versed in PowerShell.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree
• 5 years of Exchange Online experience
• Microsoft Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Certification (MS-720)

Key Responsibilities

• Microsoft 365 administration (65%): Administer Microsoft 365 Technologies, especially Teams Voice and SharePoint, and Exchange Online. Develop, configure, and manage MS Teams templates, voice control policies, audio/video conferencing control policies, dial and calling plans, auto-attendants and call queues, and call flow. Troubleshoot call quality issues and call failures as needed.
• Endpoint device management (10%): Plan, maintain, and manage voice endpoints utilizing the appropriate toolsets. Manage the fleet of team handsets and make voice environment upgrades/updates on a regular cadence.
• General server/systems administration (10%): Manage and maintain standard server operating systems, setup and configure new virtual servers, ensure security standards and practices are in compliance.
• Professional Development (10%): Stay up-to-date on new developments and trends in the industry and within the Microsoft M365 service. Attend professional development sessions and develop presentations for campus and UNCG leadership.
• Other Duties (10%): Other work and duties as assigned by supervisor and/or leadership.
