Job Summary

The Clinical Engagement Regional Associate Director is a field‑based, senior level, people‑management role responsible for leading a team of Clinical Engagement Leads (CELs) who are responsible for building and managing investigator and site relationships across the organization’s clinical trial portfolio.

This role serves as the central global people manager for the field‑based clinical engagement function in assigned region(s)execution of investigator and site relationship management across the assigned region/countries.

The Clinical Engagement Manager combines people leadership skills with deep knowledge of the I&I therapeutic area and clinical trial operations — serving as the escalation point for complex investigator and site issues and as the primary conduit of field intelligence and team performance to senior Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership.

This is a highly visible role that requires the ability to build and lead a high‑performing field team and operate independently across a broad assigned geography.

Work Arrangement & Location

Field-Based - This position is field‑based, and the incumbent will be expected to work within their assigned territory or region on behalf of the company.

Regular travel within the designated geography is an inherent requirement of this role.

Additional travel outside of the assigned territory may be required based on business need, including attendance at company meetings, training, or other organizational events.

  • Territory Assignment Notice
  • Europe & Asia

Notice: The geographic territory outlined for this position reflects current business needs and is subject to change at the discretion of the organization.

Territory boundaries, state assignments, and regional alignments may be modified at any time based on evolving business priorities, organizational restructuring, or strategic initiatives.

The selected candidate will be expected to adapt to any such changes as a condition of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day people leadership for a team of Clinical Engagement Leads — including coaching, performance management, goal‑setting, and career development to build and sustain a high‑performing field‑based engagement team.
  • Support site engagement strategy and priorities for the assigned region/country — translating clinical program goals into team‑level objectives for investigator identification, site feasibility, activation, and enrollment performance.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop Clinical Engagement Lead talent — partnering with HR and Clinical Operations leadership on hiring decisions, territory/portfolio assignments, and ongoing skills development.
  • Review and approve site engagement plans and feasibility recommendations developed by the team, providing strategic input on site selection, activation timelines, and enrollment risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex investigator and site relationship issues, partnering with Clinical Operations, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership to resolve challenges that exceed team‑member authority.
  • Consolidate and communicate team‑level field intelligence, enrollment trends, and performance metrics to senior Clinical Operations and Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership in a structured, actionable manner.
  • Partner with cross‑functional leaders in Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and HR to ensure team alignment, appropriate resourcing, and consistent application of company policies across the field engagement team.
  • Support the development of team training, onboarding, and engagement playbooks for Clinical Engagement Leads in collaboration with Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee team contributions to IIS (investigator‑initiated study) identification and evaluation — ensuring scientifically relevant IIS concepts are appropriately flagged, reviewed, and tracked in coordination with Medical Affairs.
  • Oversee data quality and compliance of investigator interactions, site assessments, and clinical engagement activities recorded by the team in the CRM system, in accordance with company policies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in scientific or related discipline.
  • Advanced degree preferred — MS or MPH in a relevant clinical, biomedical, or pharmaceutical sciences discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in clinical operations, clinical development, clinical research, or a field‑based clinical engagement role within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, 3+ years of direct people management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing field‑based or matrixed teams, in addition to managing investigator relationships and supporting clinical trial site activation and enrollment.
  • Experience collaborating with CROs, investigative sites, field medical teams, and HR/talent partners, including MSL partnerships.
  • Strong scientific and clinical knowledge of immunology and inflammation — including disease biology, standard of care, clinical trial design considerations, and the competitive clinical research landscape across relevant I&I indications.
  • Expertise in clinical trial site management and investigator engagement strategy including site feasibility assessment, investigator identification and qualification, site initiation support, and enrollment optimization with the ability to set direction and review team‑level recommendations.
  • Familiarity with clinical operations tools including CTMS, CRM platforms (e. g., Veeva), and site management systems; experience overseeing team documentation of field activities to GCP and compliance standards.
  • Experienced people leader who manages and develops a team of field‑based professionals independently, prioritizes team objectives strategically, and operates with minimal supervision across a broad geography.
  • Coaching‑oriented leader who builds genuine, long‑term relationships with team members based on trust, accountability, and authentic commitment to their professional growth and to supporting research excellence.
  • Proactive performance manager who consistently translates team and field observations into actionable insights and coaching that improve program strategy, site selection, and enrollment performance.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and coaching communication skills — engages team members in substantive performance and development conversations, and can credibly discuss Beeline’s pipeline, protocol design, and I&I disease areas with investigators when needed.
  • Clear and structured internal communicator — provides concise, actionable team performance and field intelligence updates to Clinical Operations, Clinical Development and Medical Affairs leadership through regular written and verbal reporting.
  • Credible external ambassador — represents Beeline’s science and organizational values at investigator meetings, scientific conferences, and site visits with professionalism, authority and genuine enthusiasm for the organization’s mission.
  • Skilled at navigating complex stakeholder environments — communicates effectively with team members, academic physicians, research coordinators, site administrators, and IRB contacts across diverse clinical research settings.
  • Position may require ability to travel 70%+ as needed of time or more including occasional overnight stay driven by business need.
