Job Description
This vacancy is open to UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff holding permanent (PA) and fixed‑term (FTA) appointments of all nationalities.
Other applicants must be nationals of an EU Member State, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland.

Position Purpose
The Security Coordination Associate will ensure the effort to develop and establish an effective communications process, informing staff via electronic and printed media of activities, policy, process, and other issues relevant to security risk management within the organization.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Security Policy Specialist at the Security Office, the Associate supports the implementation of the Security Office strategic and operational goals in Information Management, Policy Development and Communications and serves as a focal point for dissemination of prescriptive content and the development of communications materials, including maintenance of the Security Community Website and the Security Practice Network.
- Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Support prescriptive content management efforts, including development, review, and dissemination of security content.
- Act as Focal Point for prescriptive content, ensuring that content owned by the SO is prepared, reviewed, and disseminated in accordance with the defined workflow, is accurate, up to date, and classified, and is internally coherent and consistent with regulations, rules and policies both within UNDP and the UN Security Management System.
- With direction from the Security Policy Specialist, review, edit for clarity and submit for approval the policies and procedures proposed for implementation.
- Publish approved security policy and operating standards on the appropriate websites and networks.
- Develop targeted communications products, both printed and digital, to support policy comprehension, in collaboration with or at the direction of the Security Policy Specialist.
- Maintain a listing of prescriptive content items for which the unit is responsible, including mandatory review dates.
- Analyze existing prescriptive content and determine needs for new content on a regular basis, reviewing relevance, completeness, currency, clarity, consistency, and format.
- Facilitate the clearance of content by relevant senior managers.
- Arrange and support the translation of approved content into French and Spanish.
- Support coordination of Security Office activities.
- Provide substantive input in the preparation of security reports as required by the SO in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support communications efforts related to crisis and emergency response within the SO, including both printed and digital products.
- Support reporting and analytical processes related to security compliance and oversight on behalf of the SO, including analysis of Safety and Security Incident Reports (SSIRS), Residential Security Measures (RSM), and Security Risk Management Measures (SRMM).
- Assist the Security Policy Specialist in the collection, analysis, and application of security information to inform policy development and guidance.
- Assist in the development of relevant tools for security information gathering and analysis relevant to UNDP.
- Review, edit for clarity and audience, and submit for approval and implementation of general and specialized training materials; review of UNDSS training materials and transition of UN to UNDP specific terminology and activities, and dissemination of these materials to trainers.
- Monitor and maintain the Security Office communications platforms.
- Maintain the SO Share Point site, including developing new content.
- Format content to be uploaded to the site, including multimedia such as images, presentations, videos, explainers and other files.
- Implement regular online outreach to the online community via newsletter, security community, and other online tools.
- Track visitors to the site and identify related needs to improve visibility of the SO.
- Coordinate with UNDP security to gather input from the field to showcase best practices, activities, and lessons learned.
- Provide timely network facilitation in support of Security Office activities and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Prepare summaries of network discussions.
- Coordinate in‑house response to queries.
- Actively support and contribute to knowledge networks and professional communities.
- Perform other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.

Education
- Secondary education is required; university degree (bachelor’s or master’s equivalent) in Communications, Security Information Management, Modern Languages, International Relations or relevant fields will be given due consideration, but is not a requirement.
- Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum seven (7) years (with secondary education) or four (4) years (with bachelor’s degree) of progressively responsible experience in security risk management is required.
- Completed training in Security Analysis is an asset.
- Experience with the development of prescriptive content is an asset.
- Basic understanding of information technology related to content development; management of collaboration sites and functionality is required.
- Knowledge and experience in the effective use of desktop publishing software is required.
- A proven track record of report writing, editing, and product design for varied audiences is required.
- Experience in providing communications efforts related to crisis and emergency response is an asset.
- Language
- Fluency in English is required.
- Working knowledge of French and Spanish is an asset.
- Working knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable.
