As an academic subdiscipline of systematic theology, the subject “moral theology” is of central importance to the Faculty of Theology in both research and teaching. Moral theology is understood as an ethical discipline that examines human judgment and action from the perspective of Christian beliefs. It reflects, on an academic basis, on the moral practices of human beings from the perspective of the Christian faith and contributes these reflections, in a systematically organized form, to both societal and ecclesiastical dialogue.

The successful candidate will further develop these areas of focus and contribute to the profile development of the department and the faculty by establishing new research priorities.
The applicant is expected to engage in networking both within and outside the university for the Department of Moral Theology, for example through fields of excellence, research networks, or other forms of cooperation, as well as actively participate in the CEEPUS Bioethics network (Central European Exchange Programme for University Studies).
