Research assistant (f/m/d)
The Collaborative Research Center 1671 "Home(s): Phenomena, Practices, Representations" is an interdisciplinary research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) (first funding period), which is dedicated to the task of examining the current and always controversial phenomenon of home for its historical and global relevance. The following part-time position (65 percent) is to be filled in the subproject "Home Data: Research Infrastructure and Multilingual Modeling", which is responsible for the central storage and management of the research data of the CRC on the one hand, and for the development of text databases and corpora, the development of a research infrastructure and research on semantic-pragmatic issues related to home-lexicons and discourses on home on the other hand, from 1 October 2024 until 30 June 2028:
Research assistant (f/m/d)
Your tasks:
- Writing a dissertation in linguistics or translation studies within the first funding period (profile: lexical semantics and corpus linguistics with a focus on German, English and Slavic languages)
- Collaboration in the development of annotation categories for the research of semantic-pragmatic phenomena in home-related texts
- Guidance of annotation groups and monitoring of annotation quality
- Qualitative and quantitative-statistical analysis of semantic-pragmatic phenomena in home-related texts
- Collaboration in the research and publication activities of the project as well as in the conception and organisation of scientific events
- Collaboration in the creation of the CRC’s home-lexicon
Your profile:
- Completed M.A. degree in the field of linguistics or translation studies with a focus on Slavic languages
- Very good knowledge of German and English
- Very good knowledge of at least one of the three languages Polish, Ukrainian and Russian
- Competence and experience in the field of corpus linguistics is a great advantage
- Competence and experience in the field of statistical methods in linguistic or translation science research would be a great advantage
- Experience of working on large research projects would be an advantage
