Job Title Industrial Development Officer – P-3 (Fixed Term, 100 Series)
Responsibilities As a team leader or member, the incumbent will carry out the following activities:
Contribute to the organization of sessions of UNIDO’s policymaking organs, focusing on in‑session informal consultations.
Co‑lead preparations, conduct and follow‑up of pre‑ and in‑session consultations on draft decisions, resolutions and declarations.
Review pre‑session documentation and correspondence to ensure alignment with United Nations editorial standards and UNIDO’s External Correspondence Guidelines.
Oversee the preparations, conduct, reporting and follow‑up of UNIDO’s programme of Development Dialogues and briefings to Member States to build consensus.
Follow up on outcomes of sessions and support preparation, execution and follow‑up of future sessions, including adoption of decisions and resolutions.
Oversee preparations, conduct, reporting and follow‑up of UNIDO’s programme of Consultative Sessions producing substantive recommendations.
Coordinate implementation of UNIDO’s strategic stakeholder engagement approach with Member States and non‑Member States.
Collaborate with relevant divisions to establish and maintain a robust Client Relationship Management tool for comprehensive mapping of stakeholders.
Conduct in‑depth research and analysis to strategize and support engagement activities for priority Member States and non‑Member States.
Coordinate a programme of meetings with key stakeholders to advance engagement efforts with target audiences.
Advise UNIDO Directorates, Divisions and Units on engagement tools, key messages and systematic, coherent UNIDO‑wide approaches.
Collaborate on alignment and execution of institutional engagement activities, including developing strategies, preparing alignment documents and road‑maps.
Coordinate strategic engagement activities to increase visibility among target audiences, leveraging UNIDO’s global forum function.
Advise on stakeholder management, partnership opportunities and corporate outreach.
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Director, GLO/PMO.
Qualifications
First‑level university degree (bachelor or equivalent) in International Relations, International Affairs, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Diplomacy or related field –
required .
Advanced degree –
reduced requirement for years of professional experience .
Professional experience:
• Bachelor: minimum 8 years of relevant experience.
• Master’s: minimum 5 years.
• Doctorate: minimum 3 years.
Progressively responsible relevant experience in external relations, international cooperation, policy or intergovernmental processes, including liaison with Member States and institutional partners –
required .
Proven skills in identifying and resolving problems in institutional external relations –
required .
Ability to handle complex and sensitive issues through United Nations governing bodies –
required .
Knowledge and experience in dealing with diplomatic missions –
required .
Strong conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills; independent research and recommendation –
required .
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to write clearly –
required .
Strong interpersonal skills; teamwork in multicultural environment –
required .
Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Internet and content management systems (Drupal/TYPO3) –
desirable .
Experience with virtual conferencing platforms –
desirable .
Fluency in written and spoken English –
required .
Fluency or working knowledge of other UN languages, particularly French –
desirable .
