Offer Description
The Nowak Lab located at the Institute of Structural Biology, University Hospital Bonn, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) to join our multidisciplinary team on a full-time (38.5 hours/week) position funded by the PROXIDRUGs consortium, Germany’s Clusters4Future initiative until Dec 2027. As part of the academic-industry PROXIDRUGs consortium project, you will be working with groups of Prof. Ivan Đikić (Goethe University, Frankfurt), Prof. Michael Potente (Berlin Institute of Health/Charité), Prof. Tobias Bopp (Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz), and AnalytiCon Discovery to discover and validate new proximity inducing small molecules towards challenging transcription factor targets.

Your Role
- Develop and validate cellular and in-vitro assays in 96 and 384 well format using CRISPR (HiBiT, protein tagging) or lentiviral stable integration.
- Perform small molecule screens (covalent libraries) and use chemical biology to validate MOA.
- Collaborate closely with team members on research projects and mentor junior lab members, including technicians, master’s students, and Ph.D. candidates.
- Prepare research findings for publication in high-impact scientific journals and present results at national and international conferences.
- Actively contribute to maintaining a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive lab environment where every team member can thrive.
Your Profile
- A PhD in Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Proven ability to design, develop, and execute complex small molecule projects, with a strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in drug discovery projects beneficial, but not essential.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and diverse research environment.
- High level of creativity, self-motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
