Project Context The SWITCH2CE project, co‑funded by the European Union and the Government of Finland, supports enterprises within selected value chains to adopt circular economy practices. The project focuses on three value chains: Plastic Packaging, Textiles & Garments, and ICT/electronics. The role reports directly to the Project Manager and works closely with the HQ and field teams to deliver communication and visibility outcomes.
Functional Responsibilities
Implement the approved communication strategy, ensuring real‑time promotion of project activities and events.
Review, edit, and proofread brochures, key messages, newsletter templates, and other communication materials.
Develop innovative promotional tools and upgrade the project’s digital presence across all activity areas.
Design and implement dissemination strategies for diverse target groups.
Train project staff in planning, producing, and coordinating online/digital communication to enhance project impact.
Prepare final reports on assignment deliverables and recommendations.
Coordinate promotional materials (gadgets, banners, flyers) and media features with graphic designers, film teams, print suppliers, journalists, and partners.
Organise campaigns, outreach events (contests, webinars, Instagram Live sessions), and media features in collaboration with regional partners, beneficiaries, and media contacts.
Minimum Organizational Requirements
Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communication, journalism, public relations, international relations or a related discipline.
Minimum of five (5) years professional experience in public relations, communication strategy, and outreach for technical cooperation projects at the international level.
Experience developing and implementing effective media and outreach strategies.
Experience drafting, editing, and writing press releases and media assets.
Skill in tailoring key messages to different target audiences.
Familiarity with environmental issues such as resource efficiency, cleaner production, circular economy, global value chains, or MSMEs.
Experience with EU‑funded projects, including communication and visibility requirements, the European Commission English Style Guide, and UNIDO’s communication guidelines.
Desirable: experience evaluating needs and conditions in developing countries, researching independently, and evaluating information in line with organizational strategies.
Desirable: advanced knowledge of creative applications (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, website editing).
Languages Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency or working knowledge of another official UN language is desirable.
