Overview
In this role you support the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances within OHCHR, coordinating evidence-based monitoring and reporting to advance accountability for rights violations. You will lead field missions, data collection, and legal analysis to inform policy, crisis management, and follow-up on recommendations. You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure gender perspectives and inclusive practices. This position offers impactful engagement in shaping human rights protections at international levels.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead monitoring and follow-up on human rights and international humanitarian law implementations and recommendations.
- Coordinate collection, documentation, and quality control of evidence on civil, political, economic, social and development rights; ensure gender perspectives and Leave No One Behind considerations.
- Oversee human rights monitoring and field verification missions and report findings and recommendations.
- Coordinate and lead fact-finding or investigative missions with adherence to victim/witness protection standards.
- Oversee production and review of reports and briefings, incorporating legal analysis to inform strategies and decision-making with gender integration.
- Coordinate analysis of multi-source information to support thematic or country-specific situations with data quality and gender perspective.
- Provide substantive advisory support to national/regional counterparts to strengthen human rights systems and complaint mechanisms.
- Advise UN leadership on integrating human rights into protection, rule of law, policy, and accountability initiatives.
- Support treaty bodies and mechanisms through research, coordination, and follow-up.
- Manage fundraising and resource mobilization to advance OHCHR goals.
- Collect and analyze data for trends and present insights through visualization to support planning and reporting.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with UN data privacy and security standards.
- Lead and coordinate team activities, including hiring, training, and meeting deadlines.
- Plan and manage resources to implement responsibilities and projects.
- Guide team development and foster a positive, professional culture.
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in human rights or related areas.
- Knowledge of international human rights law and standards.
- Experience in monitoring, documentation, analysis, research, and reporting methodologies including field missions.
- Proficiency in drafting human rights reports and policy documents.
- Knowledge of regional and international human rights mechanisms.
- Legal analysis skills (desirable).
