Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Expert
Expected Outputs and Timelines:
- Strengthening Organizational Accountability:
- UNDIS report finalized and uploaded to the respective platform (16 March)
- Participate in the UN Mental Health Strategy, D&I subgroup and implement strategy elements into GDI unit yearly outputs (starting in March, ongoing)
- Report against Geneva Alliance Against Racism GAAR scorecard (21 March)
- Participate in the (GAAR) working group and implement (3) pledges into GDI yearly outputs (starting in March, ongoing)
- Participate in relevant steering group meetings for the UN Secretariat Strategy on the Protection from Violence and Discrimination of LGBTIQ+ Persons and implement strategy elements into GDI unit early outputs (starting in March, ongoing)
- Engage UN-SWAP 3.0 Business Owners through plenary meetings to ensure ITC’s compliance against new Secretary General’s Gender Equality Acceleration Plan (GEAP) (ongoing)
- Advise SMC on the integration of ITC’s upgraded gender parity plan – EDB/2016/02 and developing a new special measures policy (by 30 June)
- Compile and draft initial UNSWAP 2025 report for circulation to cabinet for feedback (by 20 December)
- Guiding GDI mainstreaming within ITC:
- Offer specialized technical assistance to integrate GDI considerations into key strategic documents, plans, and policy frameworks (by 30 June)
- Support programmatic activities in country-level offices by advising on the creation of a sexual harassment and abuse of authority training series (by 30 July)
- Co-lead 6 ITC Inclusion Group meetings to enhance the organizational culture (monthly meetings, ongoing)
- Support Senior Leaders (OED) through briefing notes for Gender, Diversity and Inclusion related events (ongoing)
- Support GDI Focal Points in both internal and external activities on ITC’s GDI achievements (ongoing, by 31 December)
- Capacity Development:
- Co-organize interagency activity for International Women’s Day event (by 10 March)
- Facilitate two GDI induction sessions (by 15 July and 30 November)
- Deliver one tailored GDI training (by 30 December)
- Develop and deliver one SH training for country-level projects (30 December)
- Support D&I focal points in the organization of one ITC event for each diversity dimension (ongoing, by 30 December)

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will work under the supervision of Chief, Strategic Planning and Performance & Governance, to develop new approaches to the implementation of key UN and ITC strategies and frameworks for GDI, strengthen organizational culture through increasing internal knowledge and capacities regarding GDI, and streamline ITC’s work on GDI to have an organizational impact on the overall execution of the GDI project.
Qualifications/Special Skills:
- Postgraduate degree (MA/MSc/MBA, PHD or other) in business administration, management, economics, or a related field.
- At least five years of relevant professional experience related to issues of gender equality, diversity, inclusion and organizational change.
- Demonstrated experience in GDI or related areas across organizational strategy, policy and operations.
- Excellent knowledge of GDI frameworks and theories and UN accountability frameworks.
Languages:
Advanced oral and written command of English required. Intermediate French is desirable.
