(Senior) Financial Accountant (f/m/d) - Berlin/Brandenburg Region, Germany

How you will make an impact

As our(Senior) Financial Accountant, youwill be part of the Finance Team and report to the VP of Finance & Legal.

You will be expected to proactively and continuously develop existing accounting processes and participate in projects to automate our accounting processes and make them more efficient.

You will be interacting closely with your teammates from various departments on topics such as invoice approvals, company expenses, and debt collection.

The Finance team is responsible for the company’s financial affairs and legal matters.

• Some of your tasks and responsibilities include
• Record monthly journal entries based on German GAAP/HGB (accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounts).
• Maintenance of master data as well as reconciliation and management of AP and AR accounts.
• Full ownership of the DATEV general ledger infrastructure, maximizing DATEV Unternehmen Online workflows/interfaces, and managing automated transaction pipelines.
• Account monitoring and processing of open items lists and processing of provisions and accrual/deferral bookings.
• Payment transactions, creation of payment runs, and operational liquidity management, working closely with our FP&A / Financial Controlling department.
• Independent execution of monthly closing activities.
• Preparation of annual financial statements in coordination with our tax advisors, execution of year-end closing entries alongside the tax advisor, and preparation of corresponding documentation.
• Accompanying the annual audit and main point of contact for all accounting-related inquiries.
• Handles the preparation and submission of VAT, EC Sales List (ZM), and OSS tax returns.
• Implementation of new processes and optimization of existing workflows in financial accounting, including execution of automation projects (e. g., using AI tools).
• Works closely with our FP&A / Financial Controlling team members for monthly reporting and ad-hoc financial projects.
• What we expect from you
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in financial accounting, with a strong focus on monthly closing activities and German Commercial Code (HGB) accounting standards.
• Expert knowledge of DATEV as well as a proven track record in optimizing and automating accounting processes (e. g., DATEV interfaces, document workflows).
• Ability to independently design, implement, and monitor complex internal control systems (ICS / IKS).
• Strong proficiency in Google Workspace applications and Microsoft Office, particularly Google Sheets and MS Excel.
• Excellent command of German and proficient in English, with the ability to serve as a skilled main point of contact for FP&A and external tax advisors.
• Startup experience or background in a fast-paced environment preferred, alongside a genuine interest in new processes and modern ways of working.

Ability to learn quickly and work effectively with others in a fast-moving setup.

• A reliable, structured working style and a strong sense of ownership for your assigned areas of work.
• Able to come into the office 2 days per week, or 3 when needed. We're centrally located, close to Hackescher Markt.
