Overview
As Senior Specialist, IT you will own the Basel Institute’s IT infrastructure, security, and identity management, ensuring systems are secure, available, and well-documented. You will implement and oversee IT security and operations policies, manage access controls, and support safe adoption of new technologies, including AI. You will mentor the IT Associate and coordinate with external providers to maintain resilient IT services. The role sits at the intersection of operational excellence and strategic technology adoption in an international environment.

Verantwortungsbereiche
- Implement and monitor the IT Security and Operations Policy; support disaster recovery and malware response plans
- Maintain IT infrastructure including Sophos firewall, UniFi wireless, printers, 3CX, NAS, NextCloud
- Manage user authentication and access across Active Directory and Google Workspace; onboard/offboard and conduct access reviews
- Provide cybersecurity awareness training and respond to security incidents
- Identify, evaluate and implement AI tools to improve IT operations and governance of AI adoption
- Supervise and develop the Associate, IT; coordinate day-to-day workload
- Oversee IT asset management, backups, monitoring; coordinate with external service providers; deputise for Head, IT and eLearning
- Provide first-line IT support and escalate complex issues as needed
Zentrale Anforderungen
- University degree or equivalent vocational qualification in IT or related field
- At least five years in IT systems administration and infrastructure
- Expertise in network and firewall administration; IAM; IT security
- Experience with UniFi Wi‑Fi, Synology NAS, NextCloud, 3CX; remote management/monitoring tools; supervisory experience
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Workspace administration
- Experience with major AI platforms and creating/managing AI tools and plugins
- English; German a plus
