The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Biology, Chemistry & Earth Sciences at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
Full Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry at salary grade W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
Responsibilities and teaching
The faculty is looking for internationally recognized scientists (m/f/div), whose research deals with chemical reactions in the near-surface atmosphere and matter fluxes between the atmosphere, plants, and soils, e.g., with biogenic volatile organic compounds. Of particular interest are research focuses in the area of environmental pollution and climate change (extreme events, ecosystem stressors) as well as the combination of experimental work in the laboratory and in the field. This should be evidenced by publications in high-ranking international journals, successful acquisition of third-party funding, and a clearly recognizable scientific profile. In teaching, the professorship represents the subject area in the B.Sc. and M.Sc. Geoecology, Environmental and Resource Technology, and M.Sc. Environmental Chemistry and Environment, Climate Change and Health. The willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation in the focus areas of the University of Bayreuth, the Bayreuth Center for Ecology and Environmental Research (BayCEER), and in the SFB 1357 Microplastics is expected. The ability to teach in English is expected.
