Basic research at international level is balanced with interdisciplinary applied research. The professor collaborates with stakeholders from the public and private sectors towards policy-relevant and actionable solutions.

The research group is a member of the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research ( and takes advantage of this interdisciplinary environment to develop collaborative research. The professor establishes a teaching programme in Climate Law for students of the Faculty of Law and the Graduate School of Climate Sciences. ~ Candidates hold a PhD degree in Law.

They have an excellent academic record of high-profile research in the field of climate law and/or environmental law, as evidenced by international academic publications, and they have acquired extramural funding. Leadership in national or international bodies and experience in interdisciplinary projects is an advantage. After a reasonable time, a solid knowledge of German is expected.
