W3-Professur für „Gerontologie“ (w/m/d)

ab Wintersemester 2025/26 zu besetzen.

Die Professur soll das Fach Gerontologie in der Lehre in seiner ganzen Breite vertreten und in der Forschung an die Schwerpunkte der Fakultät, insbesondere der Lebensspannenperspektive, sowie des Netzwerks Alternsforschung anschließen. Es handelt sich um eine Professur mit Verantwortung für die Institutsleitung, von der erwartet wird, dass sie in Forschung und Lehre profilbildend wirkt. Darüber hinaus werden die Fähigkeit und die Bereitschaft zum interdisziplinären sowie methodenübergreifenden Arbeiten mit sowohl quantitativen wie qualitativen Forschungsmethoden erwartet. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Disziplinen innerhalb der Fakultät (Bildungswissenschaft, Ethnologie, Psychologie, Sportwissenschaft) und darüber hinaus (u. a. Field of Focus 4: Regulation und Selbstregulation: Individuen und Organisationen, Geriatrie, Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) und Medizin), ist von besonderer Bedeutung. Als Voraussetzung dient ein breit angelegtes, biopsychosoziales Gesundheitsverständnis. Mögliche Schwerpunkte für die Ausgestaltung der Forschung am Institut für Gerontologie sind Kultur, Migration, Digitalität, Gesundheit/Krankheit, Lebensqualität und Pflege, jeweils unter Berücksichtigung der Altersthematik. Die Fakultät sucht eine Person, die Gerontologie als interdisziplinäre Wissenschaft „von der Zelle bis zur Gesellschaft“ versteht und weiterentwickelt.

Erwartet wird neben der Weiterentwicklung des Studienangebots unter Einbezug bestehender Expertise zu Altern/Alter innerhalb der Fakultät auch der Aufbau von interdisziplinären Kooperationen mit Fächern der Medizinischen Fakultät.

Voraussetzung für die Bewerbung sind gemäß § 47 Abs. 1 des Landeshochschulgesetzes Baden-Württemberg (LHG) insbesondere ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium, eine herausragende Promotion, die pädagogische Eignung, die i. d. R. durch Erfahrung in der Lehre nachgewiesen wird, sowie gemäß § 47 Abs. 2 LHG außerdem zusätzliche wissenschaftliche Leistungen in einer der Grundlagendisziplinen der Gerontologie (die Habilitation, die erfolgreich evaluierte Juniorprofessur oder vergleichbare wissenschaftliche bzw. habilitationsäquivalente Leistungen).

The Faculty of Behavioural and Cultural Studies at Heidelberg University invites applications for a

Full Professorship (W3) for “Gerontology” (f/m/d)

starting in the Winter Term 2025/26.

The professorship should represent the subject of gerontology in its entire breadth in teaching, and, in terms of research, tie in with the Faculty′s areas of specialisation, in particular the lifespan perspective, and the Network of Ageing Research (NAR). This is a professorship with responsibility for the leadership of the Institute of Gerontology, which is expected to have a profile-building effect in research and teaching. In addition, the ability to apply qualitative and quantitative methods and the willingness to work in an interdisciplinary manner is expected. Collaboration with disciplines within the faculty (educational science, sociocultural anthropology, psychology, sport science) and beyond (including Field of Focus 4: Regulation and Self-Regulation, Individuals and Organisations, Geriatrics, the Centre for Asian and Transcultural Studies (CATS) and Medicine) is of particular importance. It should be based on a broad, biopsychosocial understanding of health. Possible focal points for research activities at the Institute of Gerontology are culture, migration, digitality, health/illness, quality of life and care, in each case taking into account the topic of ageing. The faculty is looking for a person who understands and develops gerontology as an interdisciplinary science ‘from the cell to society’.

The Institute is responsible for the ‘Gerontology, Health and Care’ degree programmes (BA and M.Ed.). It is expected to further develop the range of courses offered by taking into account the wide range of existing expertise on ageing and old age within the Faculty and to establish interdisciplinary cooperation with medical disciplines, organized within the Faculty of Medicine.

In accordance with article 47 (1) of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg (LHG) the appointment requires a University degree, an outstanding doctoral degree and pedagogical aptitude, which is usually proven by teaching experience. A lecturer qualification (habilitation) or a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent qualifications in one of the basic disciplines of gerontology (comparable to tenure requirements at international research universities) is an additional requirement (in accordance with article 47 (2) LHG).
