The Institute of Integrative Cell Biology and Physiology in the Faculty of Biology at the University of Münster is inviting applications for a

Doctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in, salary level 13 TV-L, 65%) in the field of Epithelial Tissue Dynamics

at the earliest possible date. We are offering a part-time position (65%) on a fixed-term basis for three years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

The position is tied to working towards a doctorate in developmental cell biology and genetics. The successful candidate will investigate how junctional dynamics, cytoskeletal organization, and signalling regulate epithelial morphogenesis and transepithelial transport during oogenesis in Drosophila (Jacobs et al. (2025) Current Biology 35: 1181–96 ). The project combines molecular and cell biology, Drosophila genetics, and state-of-the-art imaging approaches with quantitative image analysis and modelling, offering broad training in modern developmental and cell biology. Teaching responsibilities include the supervision of undergraduate students at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

The prerequisite for this appointment is a M.Sc. degree in biology, biochemistry or another related discipline. Candidates with a strong background in cell or developmental biology, molecular biology or genetics are encouraged to apply. Applications from candidates interested in quantitative imaging are especially welcome. A good command of written and spoken English is essential. German language skills would be advantageous but are not a requirement.
