PhD Position in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics / Surface Science

Responsibilities

• Preparation and characterization of 2D materials using surface science techniques, in particular scanning tunneling microscopy (STM)
• Investigation of the electronic properties of ultrathin semiconductors, e. g. molybdenum disulfide (MoS2)
• Participation in teaching activities in the Bachelor\’s and Master\’s programs of the Department of Physics

Salary: 75% of E13 TVL. This typically corresponds to a net monthly income of 1,900–2,300 €, depending on tax class, health insurance, and individual circumstances.

Qualifications

• Master\’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a related discipline
• Good knowledge of solid state physics
• Experience with UHV systems
• Familiarity with 2D materials
