Artonis AG is a bold new venture from Balgrist University Hospital, and we are looking for an exceptional lead scientist to join us at this pivotal moment.

Our goal is to translate cutting-edge material science into surgical technologies that redefine what\’s possible in soft tissue repair. Rooted in science, inspired by clinical need, and driven by purpose, our team is building the next generation of implantable solutions: smart, regenerative, and radically effective. For our offices and labs in Zürich Stadelhofen SBB and University of Balgrist, we are seeking a motivated, innovative, and creative individual to:

1. Lead the evolution of our technology—from laboratory invention to clinical application
2. Design and oversee bold R&D strategies in polymer and hybrid material development
3. Build and inspire a top-tier interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
4. Shape our IP portfolio and innovation strategy with creativity and foresight
5. Navigate clinical and support regulatory pathways with precision and purpose
6. Serve as a key voice in strategic decisions, working closely with the CEO, Board, and investors

Your profile

• PhD in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, or a closely related field
• Passion for functional biomaterials or medical polymers
• Strong track record of creative innovation and tangible outcomes
• Entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on leadership style, and a sense of adventure
• Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
• High creativity, multidisciplinary approach, and a track record in generating intellectual property
• Motivated, passionate, independent, and highly communicative working style
