The Hector-Center for Nutrition, Exercise and Sports, Medical Clinic 1, conducts clinical and experimental research in the fields of cancer, obesity, food intolerances, and microbiota. Our translational research projects aim to better understand disease mechanisms and ultimately improve patient care and therapeutic strategies. A major focus of our research is cancer cachexia, a complex metabolic syndrome that significantly contributes to loss of skeletal muscle and adipose tissue, impaired physical function, reduced quality of life, and poor clinical outcomes in patients with cancer. Within this research area, we investigate the interactions between cancer cells, skeletal muscle, adipose tissue, and immune cells, with a particular focus on the molecular and immunological mechanisms underlying cancer-associated tissue wasting. Die Aufgaben To strengthen our research team, we are looking for an excellent and highly motivated PhD student with a strong interest in cancer biology, metabolism, immunology, and/or molecular medicine.
