The research group of Dr. Hao Wu at the Department of Gastroenterology, Gastrointestinal Oncology and Endocrinology, University Medical Center Göttingen, Göttingen, Germany is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral researcher (f/m/d) Metabolic regulation of T cell response in chronic infection and tumor microenvironment. Our research group at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) specializes in immunometabolism, with a particular focus on how viral infections and the tumor microenvironment orchestrate T cell response at the metabolic level. Funding for this position is provided by the “UMG2032 - Excellence through Focus” project, funded by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation. Your tasks • Conduct an independent research project within a collaborative team • Analyzing T cell biology via optogenetic tools. • Investigating the regulatory mechanisms of ion channels in T cells. • Supervision of students. • Present and communicate research results at national and international scientific meetings. Your qualifications • You are a curious and enthusiastic scientist who can work independently but also in a team. • Applicants should hold a PhD in the life sciences, such as immunology or a related subject. • Strong background in T cell biology. • Experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and retro/lentiviral systems for gene knock out and overexpression in primary cells. • Prior experience in conducting animal experiments (mouse models). • Proficiency in single-cell data analysis. • Metabolomics/metabolic profiling is a strong advantage. • A strong track record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals and a strong driving ambition for an academic career. • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken) are required.
