Biology Laboratory Technician at 50%The University of Neuchâtel is advertising a position for a Biology Laboratory Technician at 50% to be filled within the Institute of Biology, Soil Biodiversity group, at the Faculty of Science.ActivitiesIn your capacity as a laboratory technician, you will participate in research activities in soil biodiversity and ecology under the direction of the institute's professors. You will ensure the management of a research laboratory (maintenance of laboratory and field instruments, management of products and consumables, management of the sample collection, and responsibility for safety). You will support students (master's and doctoral) in their research projects, the teaching of basic laboratory methods, the recruitment, the supervision of apprentices, and the preparation of equipment for practical work (bachelor's and master's). You will collaborate on activities within the Institute of Biology (IBIOL) in coordination with the building maintenance staff and the facility manager.RequirementsHolding a Federal Diploma of Vocational Education and Training as a laboratory technician or an equivalent qualification, you possess the ability to work autonomously and organize your activities according to priorities. You have a sense of responsibility and demonstrate responsiveness.Possessing confirmed experience in the techniques required by the position such as working in sterile conditions, molecular methods for analyzing soil organism diversity (protists and invertebrates, DNA barcoding, study of environmental DNA by high-throughput sequencing), optical microscopy (possibly scanning electron microscopy), physico-chemical soil analyses, fieldwork (sampling, assistance in setting up experiments, measuring devices). Have an affinity for fundamental research (on soil biodiversity).You are motivated to learn new laboratory and field techniques and have a marked interest in science and technology. Possessing analytical skills, you master standard Office software (Excel, Word) and have excellent knowledge of French and English.
