We are UKM. We have a clear social mission and, with our focus on healthcare, research, and teaching, we bear a unique responsibility.

To meet our high standards every day, we are looking forward to your scientific expertise in the Institute for Experimental Pathology based at the Center for Inflammation Research at the University of Münster. The IZKF Münster has recently decided to newly establish a decentral core facility for Biology in Context, named BIC. Our facility is headed by Oliver Soehnlein, Kornelius Kerl, and Gerd Meyer zur Hörste. BIC is equipped with a MACSima imaging platform and a VS200 slide scanner for multiplexed immunohistochemistry and Visium HD and Xenium in situ platforms for spatial transcriptomics. We seek a dedicated and experienced Biologist to manage and advance our new Core Facility for Spatial Biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the development, operation, and management of this central resource, which aims to integrate advanced imaging techniques, single-cell analysis, and bioinformatics tools to investigate tissue organization and function across different scales – ideally with you on board!

BIC is closely connected with ongoing (CRC TRR332, CRU342, CRC1123) and planned research consortia with a focus on immunology, thus ensuring lively scientific exchange with leaders in the field. Be part of a leading research team in the field of immunology and neutrophil biology. Work with cutting-edge spatial biology. Collaborate with a diverse group of researchers focused on innovative and impactful science. Opportunities for professional growth and development within a stimulating research environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advancing, developing and implementing procedures for multiplexed analysis of tissue specimens with specific focus on proteomic approaches.
  • Collaborate with scientists to support their research needs, both within the lab and from external groups.
  • Ensure effective troubleshooting and maintenance of instruments, coordinating with technical support as necessary.
  • Stay updated with advancements in spatial biology and technologies to continuously improve platform capabilities.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of scientific projects and publications.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences or related fields (e.g., Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Physiology).
  • Strong background in microscopy, image analysis, and/or computational methods relevant to spatial biology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of researchers.
  • Experience in grant writing and fundraising would be advantageous.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in German is desirable but not required.

For inquiries, please contact: Oliver Soehnlein, T 0251 83 53001
