The Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging (AIMI) lab at the University of Bern’s ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research invites applications from excellent scientists and engineers with a strong background in machine learning and computer vision to work on innovative methods in the domains of medical image computing.We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with excellent technical skills to join our research group. We require outstanding students with in-depth programming and analytical capabilities and a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision. Candidates will be expected to create new state-of-the-art machine learning methods for applications of medical imaging computing.About the positionsSalaries for PhD positions fellows start at CHF 47,000 per year (the precise amount is determined by the University’s Department of Human Resources) and typically increase on a per-annum basis. The position is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for 3-4 years, with a start date expected in April 2025.The PhD-student will be co-supervised by Prof Dr. med. Huber from Bern University Hospital’s Radiology Department, and Prof. Sznitman from the University of Bern. The PhD student will work closely with radiologists, hepatologists, and pathologists to design novel multi-model Large Vision Language models in the context of radiology.Strong communication skills in English are required, as it is the working language of the ARTORG center. Free German courses are available for those wishing to learn.
