Scientific Profile The professorship forms part of the strategic positioning of the Faculty of Law, which is committed to innovation, interdisciplinarity and internationalisation. Through this professorship, the Faculty will further strengthen its expertise in the field of private law. The successful candidate is expected to be responsible for Austrian civil law in research and teaching and, preferably, to engage with its connections to other areas of private law, comparative law, or interdisciplinary research, as well as to participate in national and international research networks. The professorship is expected to attract third‑party funds for national and international research projects. The holder of the position will contribute to the profile development of the University and the Faculty, as well as to the Faculty’s core research areas. Participation in the Faculty’s doctoral programmes, in particular the doctoral programme “European Private Law”, is also expected.
Employment Requirements
Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding with the position (doctorate/PhD)
Habilitation or equivalent qualification in Austrian Civil Law
Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the relevant discipline (commensurate with stage of academic career and interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital media
Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
Skills in attracting subject‑specific project grants
Professional experience abroad during academic career
Management and leadership experience
Outstanding knowledge of German and English
Selection Criteria The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic excellence and integrity in research and teaching. They will have demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary, internationally oriented context.
