Overview

In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Stuttgart, a Tenure-Track Professorship in intelligent control for power electronic converter systems is to be filled. The position targets outstanding early‑career researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the research and teaching in the field of intelligent control for power electronic converter systems.
  • Cover sub‑areas such as power electronic converter systems for energy technology, mobility systems, and automation technology.
  • Develop intelligent control of power electronic systems, including model‑based or predictive control, use of AI methods, and IoT integration.
  • Improve switching topologies for higher efficiency, reliability, and robustness.
  • Develop control models for applications such as drive systems.
  • Create digital twins of power electronic converter systems and associated applications.
  • Take over and develop curriculum‑based courses in the subject area, in both German and English.
  • Engage in active third‑party funding acquisition and participate in university self‑administration.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding scientific publications or patents with international visibility.
  • Qualitative assessment via a one‑page description of the three most significant scientific achievements.
  • Relevant expertise in the specified sub‑fields.
  • Experience with curriculum development or teaching in German and/or English.
  • Commitment to active third‑party funding and institutional responsibilities.

Additional Information

Setting up the professorship occurs under the joint federal‑state program for supporting early‑career scientists. Employment conditions are governed by 51 LHG Baden-Württemberg. The advertised position is linked to a Tenure‑Track for appointment to a W3 professorship. Positive evaluation leads to a permanent, unwritten W3 position without an additional recruitment.
