The Translational Organ Microsystems (TOM) Groupat the Center of Polymers for Life (CPL)/ Department for Functional Materials in Medicine and Dentistry, University of Würzburg, University of Würzburg is seeking a highly motivated PostDoc researcher to join our interdisciplinary research team. The position will be available to start as soon as possible and will be fixed-term for a period of one year. The position is part-time (70%). Remuneration will be based on the collective agreement for the public service of German federal states ( Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst der Länder, TV-L ), pay grade E13.
Duties/responsibilities:
- Development of advanced 3D human in vitro tissue models using biofabrication and biomaterial-based approaches
- Establishment and optimisation of hydrogel- and bioink-based 3D mono- and co-culture systems, including spheroid-containing constructs
- Integration and characterisation of biofabricated tissue models using live-cell, fluorescence and confocal microscopy
- Development and standardisation of quantitative assays for cell viability, proliferation, migration and cell–matrix interactions
- Integration of advanced 3D tissue models with microphysiological and perfusion-based platforms
- Experimental planning, data analysis, documentation and preparation of scientific publications
Supervision and training of students and contribution to interdisciplinary collaborative research

- Demonstrated experience in 3D biofabrication and biomaterial-based human cell models
- Hands-on experience with hydrogels/bioinks and 3D mammalian cell culture, including mono- and co-culture systems
- Experience with spheroid-based models and primary human cells
- Experience in live-cell, fluorescence and confocal microscopy and quantitative image analysis
- Experience in development, optimisation and standardisation of cell-based assays
- Hands-on experience with CAM assays and perfusion models
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaborative research and scientific communication
- Very good written and spoken English; intermediate German is desirable
