Applications are invited for a Doctoral (PhD) Position (80%) at the Cognitive Psychology Unit, Department of Psychology, University of Zurich. The start date should ideally be July 1st, 2026. The position is for 4 years.
The successful applicant will work with Prof. Klaus Oberauer on a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation entitled: “Modeling Visual Working Memory”.
The project’s goal is to understand how visual working memory works through behavioral experiments and computational modeling.

We expect:
A MSc or equivalent in Psychology or a related discipline (preferably from a Bologna compatible 2-year MSc program)
Experience with experimental research
Excellent research methods knowledge and skills
Interest in pursuing an academic career in cognitive psychology
Very good command of English (written and oral)
In addition, it would be desirable if you had:
Programming skills (R, Matlab, Python, JavaScript, HTML)
Experience with mathematical / computational modeling
Experience with Bayesian statistics
