Full time, Fixed‑Term – 18 months. Salary: $155K – $178K plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading. Works 35 hours per week.

About The Role

  • Contribute to high‑quality research and educational excellence within the School and Faculty.
  • Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses aligned with UNSW policy.
  • Support students individually and as a cohort to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes.
  • Manage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance.
  • Maintain and develop industry and professional links, contributing to professional development activities.
  • Identify and apply for internal education funding opportunities.
  • Participate in School and Faculty committees, drive meetings and seminars.
  • Lead research that has a significant impact in polymer science and engineering, building a nationally recognised research track record.
  • Secure research income from national competitive grants and research end‑users.
  • Mentor and supervise HDR students to timely completion, contributing to HDR review panels.
  • Demonstrate alignment with UNSW Code of Conduct and Values, and comply with health and safety policies.

Qualifications & Selection Criteria

  • Ph D in polymer science and engineering, materials engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Proven capacity for high‑quality teaching in mechanical behaviour of materials, materials failure, structural design, and materials processing.
  • Experience with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Track record of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
  • Experience in curriculum development and improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with industry or work‑integrated learning and ability to secure funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
  • Evidence of supporting and inspiring students from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Research excellence in polymer science and engineering, with a record of high‑impact outcomes and leadership capacity.
  • Successful recruiting and supervision of high‑calibre students.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills; ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Understanding of UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, and relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to relevant training.
