Overview
In this role you will manage day-to-day accounting for our German operations within a fast-growing software group. You’ll work with a remote finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting, VAT compliance, and clean, well-structured ledgers. You’ll influence month- and year-end close, intercompany reconciliations, and KPI reporting, driving reliable insights for budgeting and forecasts. This is a hands-on, autonomous role with collaboration across finance and tax advisory partners, offering growth and increased responsibility in a multinational setting.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Support month-end and year-end close for German entities, including journal entries and accounting analysis
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support their review
- Follow up with vendors on missing invoices and prepare cost accruals for P&L review
- Process payments and bank transfers with proper approvals
- Reconcile intercompany transactions
- Prepare German VAT filings and support payroll tax filings with payroll provider and tax advisor
- Support annual financial statements under HGB, statutory audits and tax filings
- Help ensure key controls and procedures are followed and clean up messy ledgers
- Prepare financial KPIs and reporting for the finance team and verify accuracy
- Support monthly variance analysis of actuals vs budget and forecast
- Collaborate with the finance team on daily operations, reporting and special projects
Zentrale Anforderungen
- At least 3 years of accounting experience with hands-on exposure to German accounting (HGB) and German tax requirements
- Experience in the software/SaaS industry
- Multi-currency or multi-entity experience is a plus
- Solid understanding of accrual accounting
- Professional qualification in accounting or bookkeeping is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel
- NetSuite experience is a plus
- Detail-oriented and reliable with a proactive mindset
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote setup
- Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
- Based in Europe and authorized to work in country of residence
- Being located in or near Berlin is a plus
