Job Description

A leading global technology consultancy is looking for a Deployment Engineer with strong Kubernetes , Linux , and cloud infrastructure experience to join an exciting, high-impact program in Munich . This is a 12-month onsite engagement supporting complex deployment initiatives for enterprise clients across Europe.

As part of a highly skilled international engineering team, you’ll be responsible for deployment architecture, systems integration, and hands-on troubleshooting in mission-critical environments . This is a freelance role ideal for engineers with deep technical expertise and strong autonomy, looking to make an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy and maintain production-ready Kubernetes clusters (kubelet, controller, scheduler, etc.)
• Use tools like kubectl , k9s , and extend Kubernetes using CRDs , CNI , and CSI
• Manage and troubleshoot Linux servers, networking interfaces, and routing protocols
• Perform in-depth traffic/log analysis (tcpdump, dig, netstat)
• Work with service mesh implementations and proxies such as Envoy
• Handle SSL/TLS certificate management (e.g., with OpenSSL)
• Write and maintain automation scripts in Bash or Python
• Support physical infrastructure tasks (ILO, serial consoles, cabling)
• Configure Cisco switches , VLANs, OSPF, BGP, LLDP, and overlays like VxLAN
• Integrate with Windows environments including ADFS , GPOs , and Active Directory
• Apply SRE practices to deployment systems (observability, alerting, automation)

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes architecture
• Excellent Linux administration and networking skills
• Fluency in automation via Bash and/or Python
• Understanding of containerized environments and system-level resource management
• Expertise in network troubleshooting , routing protocols, and Cisco hardware
• Familiarity with Service Mesh tools (e.g., Istio, Envoy)
• Experience with certificate-based security (SSL, TLS)
• Prior work with Windows infrastructure and directory services
• Demonstrated success working in high-availability or production-critical environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications: CKA, CKAD, RHCE, CCNA , or similar
• Experience in global deployments or consulting engagements
• Exposure to DevOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows
• German language skills (nice to have, not required)
