Gallen, CH Employment Type Permanent Firmware Development Engineer Purpose of the role Develop and enhance embedded firmware solutions for mechatronic components by translating customer requirements into robust technical solutions.
Contribute to engineering excellence through process improvements, modern technologies, and close collaboration within a global, cross-functional team.
Responsibilities Design and implement technical solution concepts based on customer requirements.
Develop and customize embedded firmware for mechatronic components, including new features and functionality.
Contribute to software architecture and ensure the application of design principles and best practices.
Drive continuous improvement by enhancing engineering processes, tools, and knowledge sharing across teams.
Apply state-of-the-art technologies to achieve project objectives and improve product performance.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary and globally distributed teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
Support debugging, testing, and validation activities to ensure high-quality firmware solutions.
Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field.
Several years of experience in embedded software development using C/C++.
Hands‑on experience with Git, debugging, testing, and embedded software development tools.
Strong knowledge of microcontrollers and communication protocols such as UART, SPI, and I2C.
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ether CAT, Ethernet, Device Net, or CC-Link.
Experience contributing to or leading software architecture activities and promoting software engineering best practices.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Fluent in English; German is considered an advantage.
