About the Position We’re looking for a proactive and experienced professional to join us as Governance, Risk & Compliance Lead. In this role, you will wear several hats – serving as our Anti‑Money Laundering Officer (AMLO) and Risk Officer, while driving our compliance and risk efforts with both strategic insight and hands‑on execution. You’ll also lead, manage, and develop a small, dedicated team working across these functions.
Your Responsibilities Anti‑Money Laundering (AML):
Act as the AMLO with front‑to‑end responsibility
Maintain AML guidelines and oversee implementation
Conduct ongoing control governance and annual audits (in collaboration with Internal Audit)
Lead, manage, and support the professional development of team members focused on AML
Compliance (e.g. CoI, Written Framework, ICs, Whistleblowing):
Serve as the Compliance Officer with responsibility for maintaining and evolving internal frameworks and controls
Oversee the Conflicts of Interest (CoI) register and related processes
Maintain and develop internal control systems (ICs), written guidelines, and workflows
Risk Management:
Serve as the Risk Officer with end‑to‑end responsibility
Maintain risk guidelines and workflows
Lead annual risk assessments and manage the internal risk register
Oversee third‑party risk management processes
Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG):
Ensure ESG is embedded in all relevant business processes
Own the ESG Policy and related documentation
Represent Speedinvest in industry bodies dedicated to ESG in VC (e.g. Venture ESG)
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with internal stakeholders including Internal Audit, Legal, and Finance
Represent Speedinvest in interactions with external stakeholders such as regulators, industry bodies, and associations
Foster collaboration and knowledge‑sharing within your team and across teams
Your Qualifications
5-7 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Risk Management, or Legal roles in a regulated environment (ideally at a law firm, regulatory authority, audit or consulting firm, bank, or other financial institution)
A basic understanding of investment funds and how they operate
Strong knowledge of AML regulations
Knowledge of AIFMD, EuVECA laws is a plus
Structured and analytical mindset, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into practice
Experience with internal and external auditors
A collaborative leadership style
Confidence in navigating evolving regulatory requirements with a proactive mindset
Fluency in both English and German
