Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly financial close process for the German business units, including ensuring all revenues and costs incurred are properly recorded and balance sheet accounts are maintained.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards for German business units.
- Own reconciliation between local accounting system and corporate systems.
- Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the German Balance Sheets.
- Identify and maintain reconciliation of US GAAP differences with reference to German GAAP.
- Interact with the business unit finance and wider Corporate Accounting to produce a timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close.
- Prepare detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
- Collaborate with external statutory auditors and Corporate Statutory Reporting Team to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
- Work with Corporate Tax team to support local tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
- Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.
- Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- 5-8 years of accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional audit firm experience strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of German GAAP and German financial reporting requirements is essential.
- Experience of DATEV required.
- Experience in supervising a team of employees.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively both with local teams and with US/UK.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources, and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments.
- Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills are required.
- Knowledge in GAAP rules beneficial.
- Large ERP experience (with Oracle Fusion a plus).
Skills / Education:
- Master\’s degree in Accounting required.
- Fluency both in English and German required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
