DTC Director (EU Region) in Düsseldorf

DTC Director (EU Region) in Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf Vollzeit Vor Ort
V

Own VeSync's EU direct-to-consumer relationship growth system. Drive market results through lifecycle economics, operating cadence, and cross-functional orchestration — leveraging Global platform capabilities to execute at local speed across Europe's multi-country, multi-language markets.

This role reports directly to the EU General Manager and operates as one of the EU business's core growth engines — a standalone function at the leadership table, not a sub-function within Marketing. The DTC Director sits within the EU Regional DTC Team as the market-facing execution layer of VeSync's three-tier DTC model: Global DTC owns shared platform infrastructure and data tooling; this role translates those capabilities into market growth — owning the consumer relationship, the commercial results, and the operating rhythm for the EU region.

Because the role reports to the GM rather than into the marketing organization, it carries full commercial accountability: it sets the EU DTC strategy and annual plan, owns the EU DTC P&L end-to-end, and engages Marketing, GTM, and Operations as peer functions rather than a parent organization.

This is not a 'Head of eCommerce' role. The defining difference: eCommerce manages a channel. This role manages a direct-to-consumer relationship system across owned website, app, email, CRM, and other acquisition and retention programs — localized for each core EU market.

2. Detailed Responsibility Breakdown

  • Own the EU DTC P&L — revenue, margin, CAC, LTV, inventory efficiency, and contribution profit — with direct accountability to the EU General Manager
  • Set the EU DTC strategy, annual operating plan, and market-entry sequencing across core markets (DE, UK, FR, IT, ES), aligned to regional business objectives
  • Set and manage sales forecasts, revenue targets, and investment strategies; defend budget and headcount cases at the EU leadership level
  • Lead pricing, promotional, and merchandising strategies grounded in incrementality logic — not platform attribution inflation — accounting for EU market differences in VAT, pricing norms, and promotion calendars
  • Manage CAC payback period and media efficiency ratio (MER) as primary growth health indicators
  • Serve as the senior EU DTC voice with Global stakeholders and executive leadership

2.2 Customer Lifecycle & Consumer Relationship Ownership

  • Design and own the EU consumer lifecycle architecture: acquisition → activation → retention → referral → revenue — localized per market and language
  • Manage cohort performance — track and act on 30/60/90-day retention curves, repeat purchase rate, and AOV trends by market
  • Lead lifecycle program activation: welcome series, cart abandonment, win-back, replenishment, VIP, churn risk, and service recovery
  • Define consumer segmentation logic and work with the Global DTC platform team to activate segments in the CDP — within GDPR / ePrivacy-compliant consent and data practices

2.3 Cross-Functional Orchestration

  • Act as growth conductor across PCT, IMC, GTM, Data, and Operations teams — engaging Marketing as a peer function, with escalation to the EU GM where trade-offs require it
  • Lead consumer journey prioritization — define which lifecycle moments receive investment and in which sequence
  • Maintain operating cadence: weekly growth rituals, biweekly sprint reviews, monthly KPI retrospectives
  • Manage cross-functional trade-offs and escalation paths — resolve dependencies, not just report them
  • Align with EU marketplace/retail channel leads so DTC growth is incremental to, not cannibalistic of, the broader EU business

2.4 Team Building & Execution Rhythm

  • Build and lead a high-performing EU DTC team from the Düsseldorf hub — hiring across growth, lifecycle, content operations, and analytics with multi-market and multi-language coverage
  • Establish KPI tree, sprint cadence, and growth rituals that make results repeatable — not person-dependent
  • Develop team capability through deliberate project ownership and structured feedback loops
  • Define the operating model between the Düsseldorf hub, local market resources, and Global DTC support

2.5 Platform Fluency & Use Case Enablement

  • Define business requirements and use cases for the Global DTC platform team — translate commercial priorities into intake briefs
  • Prioritize platform requests based on lifecycle impact: which segment to activate, which channel, and which timeline
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on platform performance — signal quality, automation coverage, experiment results
  • Champion data-driven decision making across UX, site performance, and lifecycle programs

3. Requirements

  • Years: 8–12 years in DTC, eCommerce, or digital commerce with significant EU market exposure; experience operating across multiple European markets strongly preferred
  • Commercial track record: Proven ownership of revenue, margin, and contribution profit in a scaled DTC business — not just channel contribution within a broader omni-channel P&L. Experience owning a P&L as a standalone function reporting to general management is a strong plus.
  • Builder experience: Has built operating cadence — and ideally a team — from scratch in a system that was incomplete, not only optimized an existing one
  • Lifecycle ownership: Has managed cohort retention curves, not just campaign ROAS — can speak to what drove 90-day repeat rate changes
  • Cross-functional record: Has delivered growth outcomes requiring coordination across product, data, brand, and operations — without team ownership
  • Executive engagement: Comfortable setting strategy with and reporting to general management; can represent a function on a regional leadership team
  • Location & language: Based in or willing to relocate to Düsseldorf, Germany. Fluent English required; German strongly preferred; additional EU languages a plus.

What we are specifically NOT looking for

Candidates who primarily identify as channel operators, platform optimizers, or martech builders. The core job is direct-to-consumer relationship economics and growth system design — not eCommerce channel management.

4. Capability Tiers

Requirements are tiered. Tier 1 is non-negotiable. Tier 2 is important but developable. Tier 3 is useful context, not a hiring gate.

Tier 1 · Non-negotiable

  • Customer lifecycle & retention thinking — cohort-level fluency, not just ROAS
  • Commercial & financial growth logic — CAC payback, incrementality, contribution profit, P&L ownership
  • Cross-functional growth orchestration — influence without authority, trade-off leadership
  • Executive-level communication — can set strategy with a GM and hold their own on a leadership team
  • Builder mindset with ambiguity tolerance — can run before the system is complete

Tier 2 · Important

  • Multi-market localization sensibility — understands how lifecycle, content, and pricing differ across EU markets
  • Content-data integration sensibility — understands content as customer infrastructure
  • Experimentation & growth cadence — hypothesis-driven, not promotion-calendar driven
  • Consumer insight translation — turns signal into action, not just reporting
  • Team development — coaches toward accountability, not dependency

Tier 3 · Good to have

  • Shopify / martech platform familiarity
  • Technical fluency with eCommerce stacks and CRM tools
  • Multi-brand or multi-category exposure
  • German and/or additional European languages

5. Why Join VeSync

  • Own one of the core growth engines for the EU business — with real P&L accountability and a direct reporting line to the EU General Manager
  • Build the EU DTC function — team, operating model, and consumer relationship system — from the Düsseldorf hub, on top of a Global platform that handles the infrastructure
  • Lead category-building brands (Levoit, Cosori) with strong NPS and genuine consumer loyalty
  • Operate in a company that has made the commitment to shift from channel thinking to consumer thinking — with executive alignment and organizational structure to back it
  • Direct access to senior leadership and cross-functional resources across a 1,000-person global organization
