Institute for Cognition & Behavior
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting April 01, 2025, and ending after 3 years

The position is part of the Institute for Cognition and Behavior headed by Prof. Susann Fiedler. The work program for this PhD position is part of the international research project «Paradox Mindset for Individual Well-Being and Societal Impact». This project is funded by EU Horizon 2020 and the FWF for three years and investigates how paradoxical mindsets – the ability to simultaneously accept and productively use contradictory demands and perspectives – can be trained and developed and what effects they have on managers, their direct employees, and society.

What to expect

  • Enroll in the PhD program and collaborate in an interdisciplinary and international research project under the direction of Prof. Susann Fiedler.
  • Planning, implementation, and evaluation of a large-scale field study.
  • Attendance of international conferences.
  • Publication of research projects in international journals.

What you have to offer

  • Master\’s degree in psychology, business, or management (alternatively in a related field) that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU.
  • Interest in the following fields: decision making, leadership, wellbeing.
  • Strong background and interest to expand skills in experimental social science methodology/statistics.
  • Strong motivation to contribute to the interdisciplinary agenda of the institute.
  • Fluency in English required.
  • Highly motivated, curious, well-organized, team player.
