About the role

Our client is looking for an Electrical Engineer to join its team in Troisdorf, Germany, on a contract basis. The role is fully on site and has an immediate start, so it will suit someone who is available now and can contribute to the team quickly.

The successful candidate will take a hands-on role in the electrical and control systems that keep operations running. PLC programming and programme maintenance sit at the centre of the work, and the role calls for an engineer who is confident reading, modifying and supporting existing control programmes as well as developing new ones.

The Electrical Engineer will work day to day with colleagues across the site, so clear communication in both English and German is important. The option to live on site is available, which may suit candidates relocating for the assignment.

Main responsibilities

• Programme, modify and maintain PLC systems that support site operations
• Carry out fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical and control systems, and restore equipment to service promptly
• Maintain and update PLC programmes and keep software backups and documentation current
• Support the installation, commissioning and testing of electrical and control equipment
• Contribute to improvements that increase the reliability and performance of existing systems
• Work with colleagues on site to plan and carry out electrical work safely and in line with relevant standards
• Produce and update technical documentation, including electrical drawings and programme records
• Communicate clearly with colleagues in English and German

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
• Minimum of 2 years of heavy hands-on experience in PLC programming and programme maintenance
• Fluent English and German, both written and spoken
• Experience of fault finding and supporting electrical and control systems in an industrial environment
• Understanding of electrical safety requirements and good working practice
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Available to start as soon as possible and work fully on site in Troisdorf
