The Opportunity:

Labortätigkeit in der biochemischen, analytischen Methodenentwicklung (Protein Engineering). Avantor is looking for an Onsite Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) to join our team at our customer's site in Basel.

This is a full-time position based at our customer's site, a leading pharmaceutical company in Basel. We offer a permanent contract.

Working hours: Monday to Friday; standard 8-hour workday (40 hours per week). No shifts and no weekends.

Who we're looking for:

  • Education: Completed vocational training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician or Synthesis Laboratory Technician , or a completed BSc/MSc degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience in chemical process development and/or peptide or synthetic chemistry is needed.
  • Languages: Very good English skills, both written and spoken is a must. German or French is an advantage.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a highly parallelized environment.
  • Strong commitment to quality and efficient working methods.
  • Quick learner with a high willingness to learn about new technologies and software.
  • Good computer and statistical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of behavioral and safety regulations in laboratory environments (Health, Safety, Environment).
  • Clear and open communication skills.
  • You are characterized by a strong service orientation, willingness to learn, curiosity, and openness to new technologies.
  • We are looking for an open-minded, reliable, flexible, resilient, and self-motivated individual who carries out assigned tasks with the highest level of care, accuracy, and cleanliness.

How you will thrive and make an impact:

Peptide Synthesis and Sample Production

  • Production of peptides according to established procedures while complying with applicable quality, safety, and laboratory guidelines.
  • Execution of sample and batch production according to orders, manufacturing instructions, and defined standard operating procedures.
  • Production of peptides in compliance with applicable quality, safety, and GMP/laboratory regulations.
  • Independent execution, monitoring, and documentation of synthesis processes.
  • Preparation of buffers, solutions, and mobile phases according to specified requirements.

Laboratory Support and Scientific Services

  • Preparation of buffers, media, and other solutions upon request from internal customers.
  • Maintaining complete, accurate, and timely documentation in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Evaluation and analysis of reports.
  • Independent study and continuous learning related to new projects, methods, or scientific subject areas.
  • Proactive communication and escalation of deviations, issues, or delays to the responsible project stakeholders.

Equipment and Instrument Management (Secondary Responsibilities)

  • Performing routine inspections and calibrations of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensuring proper and reliable operation of laboratory instruments.
  • Acting as System Owner for assigned laboratory equipment.
  • Coordinating maintenance, calibration, and service activities with internal and external contacts.
  • Monitoring maintenance schedules and ensuring compliance requirements are met.
