Who will you be working with? As a Technical Documentation Specialist at Wabtec, you will be part of a highly collaborative engineering environment focused on railway display and audio systems. You will work closely with hardware engineers, device engineering teams, and compliance specialists to ensure all technical documentation accurately reflects system designs and meets industry standards. You will also collaborate with global stakeholders, including certification bodies and customers, to support product lifecycle documentation and tender‑related deliverables. How will you make a difference? As a member of the Embedded Systems Engineering group, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving technical documentation for railway display and audio systems. You will ensure that all documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with railway industry standards, supporting both engineering teams and external stakeholders. In this role, you will create structured documentation that supports product development, certification processes, and customer delivery requirements. You will also contribute to process improvements by maintaining version control, supporting standardization efforts, and ensuring documentation aligns with product lifecycle updates. Your work will directly support engineering teams, certification activities, and customer‑facing deliverables, while reporting into the relevant engineering or documentation leadership structure within the division. What will your typical day look like? Develop and maintain technical documentation for railway display and audio systems Create system descriptions, hardware datasheets, installation guides, and maintenance manuals Collaborate with engineering teams to gather and validate technical information Prepare and update documentation for certification and regulatory compliance Create supporting materials such as diagrams, wiring schematics, and block diagrams Manage version control and ensure alignment with product lifecycle changes Support customer documentation requirements for tenders and project deliveries Coordinate localization and translation of documentation for international customers What do we want to know about you? Degree in Technical Communication, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Proven experience in technical writing within railway, embedded systems, or industrial electronics environments Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications Proficiency with documentation tools such as MS Office, Visio, and graphical tools Experience with regulatory and certification documentation (e.g., EN 50155, EN 50121, IEC standards) Fluency in German (native or equivalent) and strong communication skills in English Experience with CAD tools and illustration extraction is an advantage Understanding of embedded systems, display technologies, or EMC/safety standards is a plus Legal authorization to work in the European Union is required.
