Are you passionate about port operations, cargo quality and continuous improvement? We are looking for our location in Bremerhaven for an experienced Port & Cargo Operations Specialist (m/f/d) to join our Northern EMEA Operations team.

In this role, you will help ensure safe, efficient and high-quality port and cargo-handling operations across assigned terminals and vessels. Acting as a subject-matter expert, you will influence operational performance, supplier standards, risk management, cost efficiency and customer outcomes.
Your key responsibilities
- Ensure safety, efficiency, cargo integrity, quality and compliance across assigned ports and terminals
- Monitor cargo-handling activities and ensure alignment with company standards, contractual requirements and maritime regulations
- Lead operational and cargo-quality audits and follow up on corrective actions
- Use KPIs, operational data and incident trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Implements cross-terminal initiatives and strengthens operational standards to reduce damage, improve efficiency and resilience, and embed best practice
- Work closely with ports, terminals, stevedores and service providers to ensure high-quality performance
- Provide expert guidance to Marine Operations, Trade, Stowage Planning, Voyage Operations, Commercial and Quality/OPEX teams
- Make independent decisions in complex and time-critical operational situations
- Support regional and global initiatives relating to port operations, cargo quality and damage prevention
What you bring
- Knowledge of maritime transport and port operations is an advantage
- Understanding of vessel and terminal capabilities, stowage planning, cargo flow, lashing and securing, and terminal or stevedoring operations
- Strong knowledge of cargo-quality management, damage prevention and operational risk management
- Excellent analytical, communication and decision-making skills
- Confidence working under pressure and managing changing priorities
- The ability to build trust, challenge constructively and influence different stakeholder groups
- Confidence working across cultures and in an international environment
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
- Strong IT and reporting skills
- Willingness and ability to travel within Germany and internationally
- Able to meet changing priorities and business needs in a positive and flexible manner
- Ability to understand, accept and enjoy cultural differences
- Driving licence B required
