Senior Financial Accountant

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Southern & Central Accounting Team.

The position is based in Germany (Eschborn) and requires strong expertise in German statutory financial reporting and compliance within an international environment.

You will collaborate across multiple teams (Local, Regional, EMEA, Corporate) ensuring financial accuracy and process improvements while maintaining compliance with GAAP and statutory standards.

Flexible arrangements for home office work (2 days/week).

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP & German Statutory standards across all accounting operations.
• Ensure accurate, timely month-end close activities.
• Reconcile ending balances and prepare monthly reconciliations in BlackLine.
• Ensure timely and accurate statutory filings, tax returns, and other local tax obligations.
• Collaborate to process harmonization across the region and contribute to European and Global projects.
• Collaborate with external auditors (E&Y, PWC) and internal stakeholders for audit-related activities.
• Responsible for US GAAP and Statutory financial reporting for Waters Germany, including balance sheet and P&L reviews, journal entry and variance analysis.
• Manage intercompany transactions, cost analysis, and cross-charges.
• Oversee compensation & benefit management in accounting.
• Handle payroll tax in accounting.
• Manage pension in accounting.
• Perform VAT review & reporting.
• Conduct Intrastat and statistic reporting.
• Prepare income tax and tax package.
• Manage Section II reporting.
• Oversee US GAAP to statutory conversion.
• Prepare annual statutory financial package and IFRS reporting package.
• Collaborate for best practices sharing in financial activities and contribute to process improvements & harmonization.
• Manage internal and external audits, ensuring all processes align with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.

Experience:

• Experience in a similar role in an international environment.
• Experience with organizations with internal controls.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge.
• Proficiency in SAP, XL, and BlackLine is a plus.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Operates with integrity and transparency.
• Result-oriented.

Languages:

• German native language and proficiency in English.

Travel Requirements:

• Occasional travel within Europe.
