Overview
In this role you translate and copy-edit patent and legal materials from English into Brazilian Portuguese, ensuring top quality. You will act as lead linguist on accounts, coordinate with QA, programs and vendors, and manage language materials and queries. You help ensure accurate, budget-compliant deliverables while aligning with Park IP’s quality standards and Pillars of Customer Service, Quality, Innovation and Global Teamwork. This position offers the chance to shape language workflows for IP cases across multiple jurisdictions.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Perform copy-edit tasks on assigned projects or accounts
- Perform on-demand translation tasks
- Serve as lead linguist on assigned accounts
- Own deliveries translated internally or by external partners for one or more accounts
- Prepare and maintain language materials (glossaries, style guides, work instructions) up to required quality
- Manage project-related queries
- Coordinate with freelancers, agencies and internal linguists
- Test and qualify new freelancers and vendors
- Develop and train internal linguists and freelancers
- Interact with clients on linguistic matters
- Contribute to development of new and improved working processes
- Meet or exceed KPIs for productivity, on-time delivery, quality
- Achieve goals set by the team manager
Zentrale Anforderungen
- Native-Level Brazilian Portuguese fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Patent translation experience and patent knowledge across domains (computer science, mechanics, biology, electricity, pharmacy, chemistry)
- 8+ years translation/localization/editing or content writing experience
- 5+ years of review experience
- Thorough understanding of localization processes
- Excellent knowledge of terminology across subjects
- Subject-matter expert within assigned content specialties
- Experience with CAT tools (XTM, SDL Studio)
- Experience with issue tracking tools (JIRA)
- Ability to learn new localization tools quickly
- Proficient with Windows and Office
- Strong communication, feedback and teamwork skills
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and solve problems
- Experience training/mentoring others and working in a virtual team
