The GPEI website, managed by WHO, informs stakeholders about the program's global efforts. This role supports the resource mobilization and communications team in managing the website's content and structure, requiring collaboration with internal teams, vendors, and partners.

Job purpose: The Web Manager is responsible for overseeing the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) website and the polio section of the WHO website. This role ensures content is current, accurate, and aligned with the program's mission and brand. The Web Manager will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance website functionality, develop technical content solutions, manage vendor relationships, and implement strategies to effectively communicate program objectives and data to a global audience. This includes conceptualizing new web pages, optimizing for search engines, and reporting on digital communication performance.

Responsibilities: Manage the GPEI website and WHO polio pages, ensuring content accuracy, currency, and brand alignment. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors on website design, functionality, and technical updates, including maintaining the interactive polio map. Liaise with IT for domain registration, security, and web certificates. Conceptualize, test, and launch new web pages and sections using the CMS. Develop and implement SEO strategies. Coordinate with data and finance teams for accurate information dissemination. Monitor, analyze, and report on website performance and digital communication activities. Conduct page audits and resolve web issues. Collaborate on content strategies, develop and edit newsletters, and draft news stories. Provide digital guidance and stay updated on digital trends.

Education: Essential: First-level university degree in communications, information systems, or a relevant field. Desirable: Advanced degree in a related field.

Work experience: Essential: Minimum 5 years of digital communication experience in developing countries and humanitarian organizations at a global level. Demonstrated international exposure. Experience in website management for global health programs, including technical solutions for content, analytics, and data visualization. Experience in public-private partnerships in health and established communication networks. Experience in countering misinformation. Experience managing external web service providers. Desirable: Understanding of polio epidemiology and vaccines; experience with IHR classifications; field experience in countries with weak health infrastructure.

Skills: Ability to assess data and infographic needs and develop solutions for non-technical audiences. Strong knowledge of SEO and performance metrics. Understanding of vaccine-preventable diseases and sensitivity to vaccine hesitancy and political tensions. Ability to analyze and integrate disease data into web content.
