Overview The PPC Division promotes health for all by integrating care and prevention. Join a dynamic team dedicated to addressing health challenges globally. Responsibilities Serve as a technical and scientific reference in comprehensive abortion care among the peer community, Member States, cosponsors and other UN agencies. Develop evidence‑based tools and resources to support HRP/WHO normative products on comprehensive abortion care and facilitate their adaptation and utilization in programmes and policies. Contribute to research priority setting, drawing on the scientific literature, HRP advisory bodies and input from Member States and cosponsoring agencies, and develop operational and strategic plans for research and development. Design and implement research, assessment and training activities in comprehensive abortion care, including the development of research protocols, recruitment of national partner institutions, drafting of research agreements, organization of scientific meetings and training workshops, monitoring visits, collaboration with data management organisations, network management, analysis, writing, publication and evaluation of results. Synthesize evidence, carry out systematic reviews, provide technical input into evidence‑based clinical and managerial guidelines. Provide guidance to counterparts in Member States, UN agencies and other inter‑governmental and non‑governmental agencies on scientific and technical matters, working closely with WHO Regional and Country Offices. Prepare technical progress reports for governing and advisory bodies, WHO reporting requirements and donors. Develop manuscripts for the scientific literature and coordinate related communications to strengthen dissemination, adaptation and use of WHO and HRP outputs. Collaborate with governmental, NGO, private sector and other stakeholders to generate and use evidence for increased access to sexual and reproductive health and rights. Undertake fundraising activities to secure financial support for the programme of work.
Qualifications Advanced university degree in public health, medicine, midwifery or related field with specialized training in sexual and reproductive health and rights. At least 7 years of international exposure in research or programme management focused on comprehensive abortion care, sexual and reproductive health and rights, including in low‑and middle‑income countries. At least 5 years of direct experience leading, designing and coordinating research or implementation projects on comprehensive abortion care. At least 5 years of experience designing, developing and delivering training and learning materials on comprehensive abortion care. Expertise in research and program management. Teamwork, communication, cultural sensitivity, adaptability and partnership building skills. Expert knowledge of English;
intermediate knowledge of French and expert knowledge of UN languages preferred.
Remuneration Annual base salary starting at USD 86,027, variable post adjustment reflecting cost of living, plus additional benefits including 30 days annual leave, allowances for dependants, home leave and an education grant for dependent children.
