The Chair of Corporate Finance at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management invites applications from highly motivated and academically outstanding candidates (f/m/d) for a doctoral position as a Research Associate (f/m/d). The Chair's research focuses on empirical corporate finance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and related topics at the intersection of finance, economics, and management. Research at the Chair combines a strong theoretical foundation with modern empirical methods and the analysis of international datasets, offering the opportunity to contribute to internationally recognized research projects.
Your mission
- Conduct high-quality, publication-oriented doctoral research, typically resulting in three publishable research papers.
- Contribute to the Chair's empirical research projects.
- Actively participate in the seminars of the Finance & Accounting Group, faculty research seminars, and doctoral workshops.
- Collaborate with international research partners and present research at academic conferences.
- Undertake teaching and administrative responsibilities that are compatible with maintaining a strong focus on doctoral research.
Your profile
- An excellent MSc degree (or expected completion before the start date) in Finance, Economics, or a closely related field.
- A strong interest in pursuing an academic career and conducting research at an international level.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with experience in empirical research.
- Knowledge of statistics and econometrics; experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, or computational methods is an advantage.
- A strong interest in data-intensive research and in addressing important economic and financial questions using modern empirical methods.
